Types of Massage I Provide

 

Decompression

Also known as “gliding cups,” this modality is like cupping but slightly different. Instead of using glass and fire to leave cups in place, I use silicone cups to create suction on the skin and then glide these cups over large portions of the body. This means no red circles will be left on your skin after our session. This modality benefits the lymphatic system and helps increase blood flow to areas of tension.

 

Relaxation

This one doesn’t need much explanation! Maybe you’ve had a hard day. Perhaps you’re stressed; going through something. Whatever your reason, it always feels good to relax. During a relaxation massage I use broad gliding movements to work out tension to help you feel at ease and connected to the present. I use medium-to-firm pressure unless you request otherwise so that you also get relief from the tension in your muscles.

Trigger Point

Using your muscles too much or too little results in knotted muscle fibers, which restricts blood flow to the nearby tissue. During the session I find the sensitive “points,” and after assessing the surrounding area, use firm pressure to release the tension. It usually helps to do deep breathing through this work, as it can be uncomfortable at times. After the discomfort comes relief.

 

For Athletes

Experienced athletes know that the time when you’re not training is just as important as the training itself. Eating clean, sleeping well, staying hydrated, and getting massages helps muscle fibers repair so that progress keeps evolving instead of plateauing. The session includes an emphasis on increasing blood circulation and addressing the tendons with stretches I hold for you. This massage is typically deep tissue work.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds all our muscles, organs, glands, blood vessels, nerve fibers, etc. It is basically the envelope we live in. Sometimes the fascia can adhere to itself and the surrounding tissues, which can lead to discomfort, pain, or postural instability. I use slow, sustained pressure to release the constricted fascia. This allows it to smooth out and move more freely.

 

Hot Stone

Heat feels good on aching muscles. With hot stones in my hands, I address the areas of your body that are tightly bound. The heat dilates the blood vessels, allowing more nutrients to flow to the surrounding muscles while releasing the cellular debris that builds up over time. The heat also stimulates your natural metabolic rate, which gives your body more energy to heal. But most importantly, the heat feels comforting and relieving.

Massage Gun

Also known as percussive therapy, it’s not as intimidating as it sounds. The instrument, known as a massage gun, creates a rapid drumming. When applied to the body it is able to unbind deep muscle fibers. The sensation is stimulating, so I don’t suggest this for people who want to prioritize relaxation. It’s a wonderful tool for athletes and people with very tight quads, hamstrings, and calves.

 

Reflexology

Reflexology was developed in Egypt and China thousands of years ago. It is the belief that different zones of the feet correspond to specific areas of the body, including organs, body systems, and glands. Putting precise pressure on the feet is meant to promote health in their corresponding areas. I recommend this for someone who wants to put energy and intention into deep internal healing.

 

Peppermint Scalp Massage

Especially beneficial for those who experience headaches, a peppermint scalp massage is a refreshing, cooling way to increase blood circulation to your scalp. Using organic peppermint essential oil, I target areas of tension and provide a deep sense of relaxation. This service comes towards the end of your session and lasts about 5 minutes.

For Those Who Work on Computers

Chances are good that your neck, shoulders, and back have been hurting. Have you been getting headaches? The posture required for working on a computer strains a specific set of muscles. In our session, we can either spend the entire time on these specific muscles and only address the upper body, or we can focus on these muscles during a full body massage so that you also get to relax.
